DAY 1

ARRIVE IN ACCRA

Christmas is a magical season of the year and while there’s truth to the notion that there’s no place like home for the holidays, Ghana offers you the unique experience of how much Christmas is celebrated here. This trip will offer the chance for one of the most unforgettable holidays of a lifetime.

Upon arrival in Accra, you will be welcomed, ushered through immigration and customs and transported in a private A/C vehicle to your hotel in Accra. Check in at your hotel, relax and prepare for a memorable night of delicious meal and soothing music.

DAY 2

Date : December 29, 2022

ACCRA (AFROCHELLA FESTIVAL)

Experience the bustling city of Accra, which has a blend of modern buildings and old structures constructed during colonial times. This 120-year-old city has an abundance of historical landmarks including New Town, Ga Mashie and Jamestown areas.

Visit the popular Aunty Muni’s Kitchen where “Waakye”, a familiar delicacy for most Ghanaians is deliciously prepared and sold. “Waakye” is a simple but nutritious Ghanaian dish of cooked rice and beans served with tomato sauce and hot pepper sauce (optional).

Drive past Independence Square where Ghana hosts most of her national ceremonies on our way to visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the final resting place of Ghana’s first president driving past Independence Square where you will see the enclosed flame of African liberation, which was lit by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in 1961. The Memorial Park is set in attractive gardens and has a museum that contains photos, artifacts and an insight into Dr Nkrumah’s life.

Continue to Jamestown- one of Accra’s most historic neighborhoods, where history resides on every corner. Best known for its lighthouses and the Usher Fort (first of which was constructed in 1875 by the British) as a navigational aid for trading vessels sailing through the Gulf of Guinea. The original structure was ruined but a larger and more improved lighthouse completed in 1932 is still functioning today.

Tonight, enjoy Accra’s vibrant nightlife as we attend the opening ceremony of Afrochella.

Explore the vibrant city of Accra, which is a blend of historic and modern buildings, with many colonial-era buildings still evident today. There are many historical landmarks in this 120-year-old city, including areas like New Town, Ga Mashie and Jamestown.

We cannot miss the chance of tasting the delicious waakye (a popular rice nutritious Ghanaian dish made from cooked rice and beans served with fresh tomato sauce and hot pepper sauce) from Aunty Muni's Kitchen

We'll continue to Independence Square, where you will see the flame of African Liberation that was lit by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in 1961. The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, with its attractive gardens and museum, is a great place to learn about the first President of Ghana. It also serves as the final resting place for the late president, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah after his previous burial in Guinea and Nkroful, his birth town.

Our day’s visit ends at Jamestown Community, the oldest city in Accra. It is the most historic neighbourhood where history resides on every corner. Best known for its lighthouses (the first of which was constructed in 1875 by the British) as a navigational aid for trading vessels sailing through the Gulf of Guinea. The original structure was ruined but a larger and more improved lighthouse was completed in 1921.

The vibrant atmosphere of Accra’s nightlife will be in full effect as Afrochella celebrates the opening of the event.

DAY 3

Date : December 30, 2022

ACCRA AND VICINITY

After yesterday’s exciting all-night dancing and fun, have a restful morning to rejuvenate for yet another night of Afrochella Festival.

Following a leisure morning, we depart the hotel to complete the tour of Accra visiting the following places:

Visit the W.E.B DuBois former home, now a museum and Centre for the study of Africanism
Drive through Flagstaff House, official residence and administrative offices of the president (Ghana’s Whitehouse).
After lunch (on your own account) at the Buka Restaurant, enjoy a true African shopping experience at the fashionable Oxford street that has colorful stalls of authentic African wear.

We will return to our hotel briefly to freshen up before we attend Afrochella festival designed to elevate and highlight the thrilling and thriving millennial talent from and in Africa. The day will feature a festive celebration of our culture in the form of Arts and Fashion Installations, Live painting, the best of African Culture and Live performances.

Return to the hotel with beautiful memories of a truly authentic African experience

DAY 4

Date : December 31, 2022

ACCRA – ASSIN MANSO - CAPE COAST

Following a leisure breakfast, we depart to Cape Coast in Ghana’s Central Region.

This region has had the most significant effect on the lives of Africans in the diaspora.

We will pass through small villages and arrive at Assin Manso, the burial site of two former slaves from Jamaica and the US whose remains were reinterred here in August 1998 during Ghana’s first Emancipation Day Celebration.

You will see the “Slave River:” where our ancestors were washed before confinement in the slave dungeons to await shipment to the Americas. We arrive in Elmina and check into our hotel.

We continue to Elmina and enjoy lunch (on your account) at the Coconut Grove Beach Resort.

We will embark on a guided walking tour of Elmina, which was the first point of contact in Sub-Saharan Africa.

It was once the most cosmopolitan city in tropical Africa. Enjoy a walk through the ancient town of Elmina. At the harbor see the colorful fishing canoes getting ready to go to sea for another night’s task of fishing. This is a picture-perfect opportunity for photographers.

DAY 5

Date : January 1, 2023

ELMINA & CAPE COAST CASTLES

After breakfast, we will travel the short distance to Elmina Castle, originally called Fort Sao Jorge de Elmina – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, completed in 1486 and was the first European made structures built in sub-Saharan Africa.

After this visit, we continue to Cape Coast to see the Cape Coast dungeon, where you will experience the emotional journey of going in the opposite direction of our ancestors, through the infamous “door of no return”.

Lunch (on your own account) at the One Africa Restaurant.

This evening, you will experience the traditional Fihankra Ceremony– “Restore to Diasporas the Cultural and Spiritual connections that were denied them for centuries”. The Fihankra Ceremony will include a traditional Naming Ceremony where you will receive your certificate of authentication.

DAY 6

Date : January 2, 2023

CAPE COAST -KAKUM - ACCRA

After breakfast and check out, you will visit Kakum National Park, which has one of Africa’s famous rainforest canopy walkways. This canopy walkway will be one of the highlights of your time in Ghana. Prepare to take a deep breath as you walk the suspended bridge and marvel at the breathtaking views that stretch for miles across the rainforest.

On arrival in Ghana’s capital city, see today’s Ghana at the West Hills Mall. Transfer to your hotel; rest of the day is free. There will be opportunities to enjoy the New Year at fun and thrilling night programs in the city this evening.

DAY 7

ACCRA - ADA FOAH

Following a leisure breakfast and check out, we depart for a real African experience.

We visit the Makola Market which is the biggest open market in Accra. This fascinating market has been compartmentalized into various sections to make shopping easy for buyers. You will have the chance to walk through this unusual busy market and even get the chance to bargain for stuff you would like to purchase.

After lunch (on your own account) at the Its my Kitchen Restaurant, we depart to Ada Foah. Upon arrival, check in and refresh for the evening. Dinner will be at the hotel.

DAY 8

Date : January 4, 2023

ADA FOAH

After breakfast, morning at Leisure sunbathing along the Atlantic Ocean.

You may take walk around the resort which reminds most like a walk through an episode of Discovery Channel. If the well-mannered donkeys don’t amuse you, the friendly midget ponies will definitely get you posing for pictures.

A must-do at Resort is bird watching. From Flamingoes to Pelicans to all-white and colored peacocks to black swans and several other exquisite bird species, experience the calming effect of bird watching. You can even feed the flamingo!

Later in the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip to the Mangroves and Island to explore the work of the local gin producers on the Island who are committed to responsible tourism and environment protection. Tonight, ring in the New Year in Style at your hotel.

DAY 9

Date : January 5, 2023

ADA FOAH -DODOWA - ACCRA

After a leisure breakfast, we depart to Accra. Enroute, enjoy a scenic drive to T.K Beads, experts in making beautiful traditional beads using ancient methods. Your guide will take you through the skilled process of making the beads. Beads are culturally a symbol of wealth and beauty here in Ghana and are still used during traditional durbars and festivals. After the demonstration, we can admire and purchase a wide selection of beads that have been made here at the onsite shop.

The bead-making craft has a long history in Ghana. Beads have been used in ceremonies of birth, coming of age, marriage, or death for the past 400 years. You will watch and participate in the whole bead-making process from beginning to end.

Upon arrival in Accra, transfer to the airport to your hotel. You may enjoy Accra’s Night life this evening.
